Buy or build a system?
In USA you can buy a readymade system. It can be the most simple system, like the
one in the picture, but most of them consists of a seperate aqvarium and separate
growing beds for plants. They are often called "class room systems" because they
are used in schools as illustration of natures own recirculating system.
The system on the picture have floating plants and filter to clean the water.
Even if it is simple to buy we recommend to build your own system!
It is a good beginning to get a small aquarium with goldfish and some herbs or
lettuce in the kitchen.
While you learn more about bioponics in the little system you will have plenty
of time to prepare the next phase, which perhaps includes a bigger system. You
can do field studies - get aquainted with materials and prices. Make sketches on
different solutions. Calculate - bring forth broschyres - play with figures! Visit
green house gardeners and talk to fish farmers! Look for components! Often you
can find cheap components meant for totally different things.
But first you must build your mini-system.
